2020-9 COVID Prompts Foreigners Home and Indigenous People to High Sierra.
With the onset of the COVID pandemic, foreigners who had been at Tierra Negra returned to their respective countries and the indigenous people were called back to the high parts of the Sierra. We are waiting instructions from the mamas as to how to proceed, aware that many of the problems affecting humanity today are caused by ignoring the laws of nature and maintaining the important balance needed for the survival of the planet. The Czech volunteers are back in the Czech Republic. They want to return when things normalize a bit. Their visit was appreciated as they helped explore all the territory of the Foundation and open a path to the highest part of Tierra Negra through difficult terrain. Up there, staples were planted - yuca, malanga, plantains. At the new nuhue, the floor was paved with river stones. Native trees, including indigenous cacao (chocolate) trees, were started from seed in a "nursery" to have trees for food and for reforestation, particularly along the creeks, to protect them. We'd like to thank Jaroslav Harmacek, of the Czech Republic, who has lent unwavering support to Fundación Escuela Sintana y Tierra Negra. Also, Monica and all the volunteers and members of Mosty-Puentes for their excellent work and support. Their efforts are greatly appreciated and we invite them to return. Tierra Negra is their home. |
